Preface
Use of our forums constitutes acceptance and agreement to our Forum Code of Conduct and Forum User Agreement. If you violate the Code of Conduct or User Agreement, we reserve the right to terminate all accounts belonging to you without prior notice. We prefer to advise forummers of inappropriate behavior, however, flagrant and repeated violations of this Code of Conduct will result in an immediate ban. Our failure to enforce this policy, for whatever reason, shall not be construed as a waiver of our right to do so at any time.
It is extremely important to understand that this Code of Conduct can't be designed to cover everything. We may take action if a forummer's conduct at FancyMafia is deemed counterproductive to the site.
Flaming
Personal attacks towards any forummer is subject to the message being deleted and action taken against the poster, regardless of how pertinent or thoughtful the rest of the message might be.
Profanity
Forummers may not use profanity, racial/ethnic slurs, or any other obscene terms or phrases in a manner deemed distasteful. This applies both to fully realized terms/phrases and to terms/phrases which have been partially censored by the poster.
Derogatory Terms and Phrases
If a forummer uses any term or phrase in an offensive context against a person, race, culture, group, or organization, as determined by our moderators on a case-by-case basis, that forummer is in violation of this Code of Conduct.
Privacy
Forummers may not post any form of personal information of another forummer without express permission from that forummer. This includes but is not limited to name, age, city/state/country of residence, mailing/email/IP address, or phone number. Forummers may not post or otherwise distribute any form of personal information, email/PM messages, or IM chatlogs with intent to harass or otherwise demean, as determined by a moderator, regardless of consent.
Spamming
Spamming of any kind is strictly prohibited, with exceptions to boards or threads where certain types of spamming are explicitly stated as being alright.
Advertising
Creating a thread with the explicit purpose of advertising is prohibited. Moreover, if a post containing an advertisement in a thread is deemed to be off topic or inappropriate, it will be deleted and action may be taken against the poster. Any forummer that appears to have created an account solely to promote another site will be permanently banned.
Piracy, Cracks, Multiplayer Hacks, Keys, and Key-Generators
“Piracy” is the illegal copying and/or distribution of copyrighted content, including, but not limited to, games, software, music, movies, pictures, ROMs, abandon-ware, and leaked software. “Cracks” are programs that disable copy-protection technology; “Multiplayer Hacks” are any programs, patches, files, modifications, or information exposure cheats that allow a player to gain an unfair advantage over other human opponents in a multiplayer game; a “Key” is a combination of numbers and letters that is required for software installation and sometimes used to validate users for online play; and “Key-Generators” are programs that generate valid Keys.
You may not link to or discuss methods and/or techniques involving piracy, cracks, multiplayer hacks, keys, or key-generators.
Porn and Sexually Offensive Materials
Forummers may not post or link to pornography or otherwise sexually offensive materials.
Offensive Images and Shock Sites
Forummers may not post or link to shock sites, or any such excessively obscene material.
Illegal Use
Forummers may not use our forums for illegal purposes, in support of illegal activities, or encourage conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, as determined by the laws of the United States of America. Such activities will guarantee a ban. We reserve the right to cooperate with legal authorities and/or injured third parties in the investigation of any suspected crime or civil wrongdoing.
Non-Disclosure Agreements
We will delete posts containing materials in breach of active Non-Disclosure Agreements. We reserve the right to cooperate with the companies in the investigation of any NDA breach.
Usernames
Display names and usernames may not be in violation of this Code of Conduct. We reserve the right to alter display names and/or terminate accounts for display names or usernames in direct violation of the Code of Conduct or otherwise deemed inappropriate.
Signatures and Avatars
Signatures, whether facilitated by the forum software or by the user, may not exceed 800 pixels in width or 200 pixels in height (an unmodified line of text is approximately 15 pixels high), may not include images with a net size greater than 1 megabyte, and may not contain material which would otherwise be in violation of this Code of Conduct.
Avatars, whether facilitated by the forum software or by the user, may not exceed 150 pixels in width or 150 pixels in height, may not include an image larger than 1 megabyte, and may not contain material which would otherwise be in violation of this Code of Conduct.
Official Language
English is the official language of our forums because it is the common language between our moderators and forummers. Because we can not moderate conversations in a foreign language, forummers may not hold conversations in the forums in any language other than English. Other languages are permitted in a forummer's signature, so long as permission is granted by a moderator and an accurate translation of the non-English text present in the signature is included in the Personal Notes field of the Personal tab in the forummer's profile.
Email Addresses
The email address associated with each forummer's account is expected to be kept current. We are not responsible if a forummer is negatively impacted because the email address in that forummer's account was no longer in use.
Harassment
The Private Messaging system is not to be abused. If a forummer is asked to leave another forummer alone and disregards this request, they may lose their right to make use of the Private Messaging system altogether at our discretion.
Impersonation
Attempting to impersonate any person, including staff, using forged headers, instant messenger names, or similar usernames or display names in an effort to deceive or mislead is prohibited.
Unauthorized Access
Under no circumstances may a forummer access another forummer's account, regardless of permission. Forummers are responsible for the security of their FancyMafia accounts: they may not share their passwords or transfer their accounts to others without the express permission of a FancyMafia moderator. In addition, forummers are responsible for all activity made by their account.
Forum Security
Exploiting or attempting to exploit bugs, vulnerabilities, or loopholes of any kind, or otherwise attempting to penetrate or abuse FancyMafia's software or hardware, will result in an immediate termination of any accounts and a ban of all IPs associated with those accounts, regardless of whether or not the intrusion results in the corruption, loss, or theft of data.
Moderation and Bans
Forummers may not evade a ban; doing so will drastically lengthen the duration of said ban. Moreover, posting on behalf of a banned forummer will not only be considered evading a ban on the part of the banned forummer, but may also result in action being taken against the forummer posting on the banned forummer's behalf.
Forummers may not publicly demand a reason for or otherwise complain about another forummer's ban, the deletion of a message, or the deletion/closure of a thread. Attempts to repost a deleted message or deleted/closed thread may result in action being taken against the poster.
Any discussion about warnings, bans, message deletion, thread deletion, and/or thread closure should be addressed via email, PM, or IM with a moderator. Please note that a moderator's decision on an appeal is final, and further attempts to appeal the same action, whether it be a post deletion or a ban, will be considered harassment and may result in further action being taken against the appealing forummer.
Miscellaneous
Do not make negative posts or discussions that are constantly repeated with no purpose other than to disrupt conversation. If you feel the need to say something, say it once and then move on. Do not disrupt multiple threads in order to get your view out.
Do not bait or troll other forummers. Baiting and trolling are defined as posting with a clear intent to provoke anger, incendiary posts, or behavior that results in other users violating the Code of Conduct.
Do not abuse the ability to post in HTML in HTML-enabled forums
Do not post in a manner that is harmful to FancyMafia.
Do not register multiple accounts, called smurfs, with intent to violate any part of this Code of Conduct.
Do not link to the forum logout page.
